Partners in the Community

The Savings Bank of Danbury and The Salvation Army

DANBURY - As someone once said, “It takes a village to raise a child.” In Danbury, the partnership between the Savings Bank of Danbury and The Salvation Army has never been stronger and as a result of this strong partnership, many children and families have benefited. The relationship has grown over the years and the true winners have been people in need in Danbury and the surrounding community.

Major Todd Hughes, Salvation Army Commanding Officer in Danbury, has watched the relationship between both parties prosper. As the demand for services have increased during the recession, the Bank has stepped up their effort to support organizations like The Salvation Army.

"Our relationship is a lot more than just dollars and cents. Judy Haskins – Conde, Controller at the Bank also serves as Finance Chairperson on our Advisory Board. Bank employees have delivered wonderful Thanksgiving baskets and gifts at Christmas. I consider it an honor and a privilege to work with them. We are truly blessed to have such caring partners in the community," said Major Hughes.

The following film clip is part of a presentation prepared by the Bank to inform the public about their role in the community and their commitment to organizations that help others. If you would like to read the original story concerning this award, please click here.
