Homeless Services

The Salvation Army's Southern New England Division operates three shelters that serve people who are homeless. Shelter guests are provided with comprehensive services, including: emergency housing, nutritious meals, case management, and assistance with job searches. Shelter staff work to help guests prepare to move to permanent housing. Such preparation includes securing an income, applying for benefits, applying for assistance for first month's rent or a security deposit, as well as finding suitable accommodations that will allow guests to transition back into the community successfully. Each shelter provides unique services, with the Marshall House Family Shelter and Waterbury Family Emergency Shelter catering to single women and families and the New Britain Men's Shelter serving men.
