Women Aux Spring 2014

Women’s Auxiliary Spring Luncheon a Success

Great Food, Great Auction, and Great Guests!

HARTFORD – Put another Greater Hartford Women’s Auxiliary event in the win column! Their 2014 Spring Luncheon and Auction was held at the Pond House Café on May 8 before an enthusiastic group of supporters and friends. This annual event drew a crowd of auxiliary members and guests eager to participate in one of Greater Hartford’s best events. The food was wonderful, as always, and the crowd was excited to finish lunch so that they could get right down to the business at hand… bidding on some outstanding items looking for new homes!

NBC 30 CT Anchor Brad Drazen served as the head auctioneer, a job that he has become extremely good at, because like anything, the key to success is… practice, practice, practice. This is the sixth year that Brad has served. He knows how to get the "best buck for the bid" to raise funds for grants to help support many Greater Hartford Salvation Army programs. Please see the end of this article for a full listing of what deserving programs received this year’s awards.

Women’s Auxiliary President Sandra Bobowski commented, "I am gratefully amazed and delighted by the wonderful supporters of our Auxiliary – those who donate and those who come. Their love for the work of The Salvation Army is truly a gift. A heartfelt 'Thank You' to all. And, to all of our behind-the-scenes workers, thank you too! Thank you! It would not happen without you."

The Women’s Auxiliary would also like to thank the following groups for their generous donations: Pickin' Patch - Avon; Playhouse on Park - West Hartford; Infinity Music Hall and Bistro - Norfolk; The Pond House - Hartford; Faith, Hope & Charity; Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art - Hartford; Lake Compounce - Bristol; TheaterWorks - Hartford; Carbone’s -Hartford; Mark Twain House & Museum - Hartford; Harry’s Bishops Corner - West Hartford; NBC CT; and many more!

Salvation Army Associate Area Services Coordinator, Captain Christine Glasco, said, "We had another wonderful spring event that would not have been possible without the help of our Auxiliary officers, donors of every kind, and everyone who supported our event in any way. May God bless you all and thanks so very much!"
