The Salvation Army Southern New England Division is excited to announce a new aspect to our wonderful partnership with Walmart this year that will benefit constituents in your district. Last year, The Salvation Army collected $40.5 million in front of Walmart stores and Sam’s Club locations across the country. Funds donated helped The Salvation Army serve communities by providing basic social services to those in need of food, shelter, clothing and financial assistance. The partnership of many local and state officials in this effort last season helped to make this total possible.
We invite mayors and legislators, including both past participants and new volunteers, to get involved. Please join us at a time of your convenience to ring a bell outside of a Walmart or Sam’s Club in your district for a half-hour. In turn, Walmart will match all donations collected during that time up to $25,000.
Bell Ringing opportunities begin December 5 and continue through December 24. We hope you will consider volunteering your time to help make a valuable contribution to this wonderful cause.
In Connecticut, The Salvation Army provides hope to so many during the Christmas season and year-round because people like you help us with our mission. Notable volunteer bell ringers bring in more donations at the Red Kettle and generate positive coverage of the campaign. The Salvation Army Southern New England Division’s combined goal for the 2015 Red Kettle Campaign in Rhode Island and Connecticut is $2 million. These funds help to provide toys, warm coats, nutritious meals and other vital services throughout the year for hundreds of thousands of children, adults and families. Your valuable time as a Celebrity Bell Ringer helps to make these programs and services possible.
The neighbors in need who come to us are not just looking for help – they’re looking for hope
This Christmas season is expected to be one of the busiest yet and we are hoping the Walmart Kettle Campaign is as much a success in Connecticut as it has been in other states.
