The Salvation Army Receives Donation from the Pontelandolfo Community Club Dinner

WATERBURY - The Pontelandolfo Community Club in Waterbury held a benefit dinner for The Salvation Army in August, raising $1,250.00. Recently, The Salvation Army received a check from the community club at a check presentation in Waterbury.

Deborah Sullivan, Chair of The Salvation Army Advisory Board in Waterbury, Captain Isael Gonzalez, of The Salvation Army, Vittorio Guerrera, Vice President of the Pontelandolfo Club, and Donna Lynn Paternostro from the Waterbury Advisory Board were at the event and shown in the photo above.

The club sponsors two charities each year, and this year, they chose The Salvation Army. Proceeds from the dinner and a drawing benefitted The Salvation Army’s programs and services in Waterbury. La Bella Vista was the caterer at the event, at which 170 people attended.

Captain Isael Gonzalez, Corps Commanding Officer and Pastor said “The Salvation Army of Waterbury is blessed to have community groups and individuals who are willing to support our work. Without their support, our mission could not be fulfilled.”

The Salvation Army of Greater Waterbury provides services and programs including an emergency shelter for families, rapid re-housing, Central P.A.R.K, an indoor playground, comprehensive emergency services, and seasonal assistance for back-to-school, thanksgiving, and Christmas.

The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian church, has been supporting those in need in His name without discrimination since 1865. Nearly 33 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through a broad array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter for the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children. About 82 cents of every dollar raised is used to support those services in nearly 9,000 communities nationwide.
