Gets The Salvation Army Back on the Road!

NEW LONDON - Bill Archer is a member of The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) Team in New London, Connecticut. He is also well aware of how their mobile canteen truck, which provides assistance directly at disaster sites and community events, requires ongoing maintenance and repair due to its steady use. When considering where to get the next round of repairs done, Bill remembered that his friend Dan Sgammato worked for Southern Connecticut Freightliner.

Shortly thereafter, Bill stopped by Southern Connecticut Freightliner, where Dan worked, to discuss some of the issues The Salvation Army was having with its EDS canteen. He followed this update by asking if it would be possible to help with the repairs for this worthy cause that serves so many each year. Dan not only enthusiastically responded that yes he would, but he would also donate his own personal time. He reasoning was that he understood what New London's EDS Canteen means, not only to the local community, but also the entire division.

Dan then took the time to make several much-needed repairs, with the only thing he charged for being parts! Considering everything that was in need of repair, this was an incredible blessing. It is people like Dan Sgammato and companies like Southern Connecticut Freightliner that allow The Salvation Army to continue to operate year-round. This type of support from members of the community is what gives The Salvation Army the ability to help those in need and continue "Doing the Most Good!" In the end, Bill introduced The Salvation Army to a friend that we could not be more grateful for!
