On Saturday, May 14th The Salvation Army EDS Canteen from New London participated in the annual Backus Hospital Public Safety Day in Norwich.
New London area EDS Director Bob Heal and a crew of 3 prepared and served over 250 people hotdogs and bottled water on a warm, sunny day. Captain Jerry Uttley OIC of the Norwich Corps also came by to lend a hand. There were firetrucks, ambulances, police vehicles, and other displays including hospital services all there to help educate the public on family safety and what services are available to them in an emergency.
The New London Canteen and EDS crew has participated in this event for several years feeding the participants and visitors from the public along with making them aware of the services The Salvation Army provides to the community.
