American Eagle Federal Credit Union Fund
Awards $2,500 to The Salvation Army

and Sends Employees to Volunteer
at the Salvation Army / WTIC Holiday Store

EAST HARTFORD - The American Eagle Federal Credit Union Fund, at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, awarded a $2,500 grant to The Salvation Army located in Hartford. This donation was announced at The Salvation Army/WTIC-AM 1080 Holiday Store at the Hilton Homewood Suites in Glastonbury on December 13, 2013.

In addition to this grant, 31 American Eagle FCU employees helped collect and sort donations at The Salvation Army/WTIC-AM 1080 Holiday Store in Glastonbury for over 100 hours.

According to Dean Marchessault, executive vice president and chief operations officer at American Eagle, the Credit Union has supported the WTIC Holiday Store with donations and/or volunteers since 2005. For the past nine years, the Credit Union has contributed a total of $16,000 to The Salvation Army in sponsorships and grants. For the past eight years, Credit Union employees have volunteered over 400 hours at The Salvation Army/WTIC-AM Holiday Store.

“This annual event provides needy Connecticut families with food and clothing during the holiday season, “ said James Gordon, director of public relations and marketing for The Salvation Army. “We appreciate businesses like American Eagle Federal Credit Union that come out and help us assist our Connecticut neighbors in need,” he added.

Christmas donations are also used to support The Salvation Army programs in Connecticut on a year-round basis. The funds raised support programs that include 'at risk - after school programs,' senior citizen and veterans’ activities, grocery orders from the food pantry, and seasonal events such as toys and gifts for those in need and The Salvation Army’s Thanksgiving and Christmas meal programs.

During the check presentation, Dean Marchessault also encouraged other businesses to write a check or drop off a donation to help assist the individuals and families that need The Salvation Army’s help the most during this holiday season and year-round.
