The Salvation Army’s The Right Place in Hartford proudly celebrated the graduation of 49 students on August 4th at The Hartford Citadel. The Right Place Centers offer a family environment for children between the ages of three to five. Whether you might call them early learning, preschool, or school readiness programs, The Right Place celebrates the concept that from the moment of birth, every child is a unique individual.
Decked out in miniature caps and tassels, the children received a diploma, as well as a backpack to use as they start their scholastic career. “It really was a heartwarming ceremony and culmination to a wonderful school year. I am so very proud of each and every one of our graduates,” said Cheri Colson, Program Manager.
“I am also proud of our hard working and dedicated teachers. They have not only prepared their students to enter Kindergarten and facilitated a strong foundation for exploration, creativity and curiosity but have also helped to foster a lifelong love of learning in each student.” Colson foresees this love of learning being carried with students through their educational careers and into adulthood.
In her role as Coordinator of Enrichment Programs, Heather Grance is able to spend time with each child in the Art Studio and was thrilled to see them graduate. “Our students have grown so much over the course of the year- both in the Studio and in the classroom, and I am so proud of all of them,” Grance said.
Each Center offering The Right Place, operated by The Salvation Army, is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), which ensures the highest quality education for children.
The program currently operates out of three Centers. Since its inception, The Right Place has educated hundreds of children, preparing them for kindergarten ready to learn.
