Stonington - To start off the Memorial Day weekend, the New London Canteen and EDS crew were called on the evening of Friday May 27th to assist the occupants and firefighters at a residential structure fire on Taugwonk Road in Stonington. Unfortunately, the home was heavily damaged. Rehab assistance including cooling, cold drinks, and snacks were provided to the approximately 50 firefighters while the occupants, including 2 children, were also offered comfort items along with emotional and spiritual support. All escaped the fire safely and no injuries were reported.
