New London Salvation Army at School Street Fire

NEW LONDON – The Salvation Army’s New London EDS Canteen was called to support a house fire on School Street in New London late Tuesday morning. Four children were in school at the time, and the adult resident escaped uninjured.

“Much of the interior of the house was gutted by the fire,” according to Bob Heal, Regional Director of Emergency Disaster Services in New London. The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services crew supported firefighters, first responders, and the resident with snacks, beverages, comfort items, and emotional support.

The Salvation Army serves families who are impacted by disaster – whether national, local, or within their home. Through our Emergency and Disaster Service program, and through the generous support of our donors, we provide critical response and assistance in the aftermath of disasters.
