Bristol Mum Parade

Bristol, Mums, and The Salvation Army

Growing together!

BRISTOL - There’s a good reason why Bristol, Connecticut, is called the Mum Capital of the World! If you attended the recent annual Bristol Mum Festival and Parade, you probably understand why! This family-friendly festival, now in its 53rd year, included many activities along Memorial Boulevard all day Saturday and Sunday, with the climax being the Mum Parade on Sunday afternoon.

Bristol Mum Parade

This year's parade was one of the best! It was a perfect fall day, and there was a large turnout of spectators all along the parade route. People were cheering for everyone, the politicians, the bands, the marchers, and the floats. The Salvation Army had their crew manning their "Heart to God and Hand to Man" float. There were almost 20 volunteers working the float, including the new Salvation Army mascot, which was a big hit along the route.

Bristol Corps Officer, Captain Charles Adams, said, “Thank you to everyone that participated. Our participation in the Mum Parade has really grown over the years. Our volunteers know how much fun we have, not only during the parade, but getting everything ready for it too. They are always eager to be part of it.” Until we participate again next year, you can find The Salvation Army in Bristol meeting needs every day of the year.
