The Salvation Army in Meriden Participates in Boscov's Department Store's Grand Opening!

MERIDEN – The Salvation Army participated in the grand opening of Boscov's Department Store on October 10th, 2015 at Westfield Shoppingtown in Meriden. The new store opened with a ribbon cutting in which $100 dollar bills were cut by member agencies of the United Way of Meriden and Wallingford. The Executive Director of the United Way cut a $1,000 bill from the center of the ribbon as a contribution from Boscov’s, which also signified their intent to continue to be an active, participating member of the Central Connecticut community.

Lieutenant LeNissa Rivera, Commanding Officer of The Salvation Army’s St. Casimir Street center, stated: "Boscov’s has a long history of supporting community partners through its charitable contributions. We are honored to be a part of this tradition!" The event featured discounts, events for children, give-aways, and raffles. Shirley Jones, American singer and actress best known for her starring role in "The Partridge Family,” and her son Patrick Cassidy who starred in “How The West Was Fun” and TV’s "Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman", performed in the community auditorium at the new store.

The Salvation Army’s Meriden Center offers many social service programs to people in need including a food pantry, soup kitchen, financial literacy services, rental/utility assistance, disaster relief lodging, holiday assistance, medical bill assistance, pastoral care, and church services.
