The Human Services Bureau provides Case Management, Food Pantry, Operation Fuel, Summer Youth Camp Experiences, Parents Second Time Around, as well as Holiday Opportunities for Greater Hartford. Please see below for more information on these programs.

Case Management and Assistance

The case management team begins with an assessment of individual and family needs. Our priority is to give a personal approach to care and empower the people we serve. We work with local agencies to help individuals and families navigate through the process of getting the resources they need. The following are the zip codes we service at our office. Food Pantry

Two food pantries are available in Hartford for individuals and families in need.

The South End Food Pantry is located at 217 Washington Street.
Schedule: Mondays - Thursdays 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The North End Food Pantry is located at 100 Nelson Street.
Schedule: Monday - and Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Parents Second Time Around Program

A holistic program offering services to grandparent/relative caregivers who are caring for their grandchildren full-time. For more information please contact Ruby Brown, Grandparent Advocate via Email at or call 860-543-8413 ext. 113.

Bloom Initiative

The Salvation Army’s Anti-Human Trafficking Bloom Initiative serving Greater Hartford works with survivors of sex and/or labor trafficking on their journey from exploitation to empowerment. Services provided include specialized case management, long-term support, basic needs assistance, spiritual support, and referrals to community services. Operation Fuel

The Salvation Army, through the help of Operation Fuel, will administer a utility assistance program for clients who need help with meeting their utility needs. If you live in Hartford, with a zip code of 06112, 06120, 06105, 06103, 06106, or 06114, we can help. Want to know if you qualify for electric or gas utility assistance? You must have a shut-off notice, no utility service, or be 30 days past due. For more information, contact the caseworker for your corresponding zip code above.

Summer Youth Camp

Youth Camp at Camp CONNRI serves inner city youth ages 8 to 12 and provides a 5 day, 4 night residential camping experience. Camp CONNRI is situated on 272 acres of rolling hills, overlooking a pristine 50-acre lake in Ashford, Connecticut. Campers enjoy a wide variety of activities including: swimming, hiking, fishing, kayaking, baseball, softball, basketball, volleyball, nature studies, arts and crafts, low ropes, geocaching, and much more. Summer Senior Respite Camp

The Senior Respite Camp is a one week overnight camp at CONNRI Lodge in Ashford, CT for seniors ages 55 and up. This camp allows seniors to meet other seniors, socialize and participate in activities such as games/puzzles, art classes, worship services, swimming, walking and exercising. Holiday Toy Distribution

Donated toys are collected through Angel Tree efforts and distributed before Christmas to families with children ages birth to 12. For more information, please call (860) 543-8413.

Holiday Meal Program

Volunteers help deliver hundreds of meals to Greater Hartford’s elderly population on Thanksgiving and Christmas day. For more information, please call (860) 543-8413.

The purpose of The Salvation Army Greater Hartford Women’s Auxiliary is to support the work and programs of The Salvation Army. It is their goal to improve the lives of persons in need in our local area.
