Throughout this New Year of 2016, the WIHS Journal on 104.9 FM will feature 12 redemption stories from the Salvation Army in Hartford. Every second Thursday of the month throughout 2016, you'll hear Gerry Williams interview someone from the program.

Eileen Gomes - June 17th

Eileen Gomes came from a disfunctional family. With an acholic father, physical, mental and verbal abuse was a part of everyday life. By the time Eileen was 13, she was abusing drugs and alcohol. At the age of 16, she left home as an addict. One morning, she asked God for help. Here is her story:

Samual Martinez - May 12th

"Self destruction" are the words Samual Martinez used to describe what brought him to The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Center. Once he came to the ARC, he realized he had unresolved issues that stemmed from his childhood. This is his story:

Javier Marquez - April 28th

P.J. - March 24th

PJ's life was a complete disaster. She was selling drugs and stealing to support her habit. After being released from six months in prison, she came to The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Center. PJ found God, and it changed her life forever. This is her story:

Steven Whitaker - February 11th

Steven Whitaker’s life was chaotic. He just got out of prison and was at a halfway house when his parole officer suggested he go to a spiritual program to help get his life back together. In 2004, he came to The Salvation Army’s Adult Rehabilitation Center. The Salvation Army’s program gave him the opportunity to focus on himself and sit in fellowship with God. Listen to his story:

Thursday you can hear part two of Gerry Williams’ conversation with Captain Leo Lloyd of The Salvation Army in Hartford. In this segment, Captain Leo briefly talks about his life in the drug world, his experience with an Evangelist, how he met his wife, and the ministry that they have together and more. The interview will broadcast on Thursday on WIHS Journal at 3:15 am, 12:13 pm and 5:49 pm on 104.9 FM.

Part 3 – Friday, January 8th

Today is the final segment of three with Captain Leo Lloyd of the Salvation Army. Captain Leo explains an idea for a Redemption line of clothing, the need for churches to partner with The Salvation Army with hopes that they would embrace, nurture, and disciple those just coming out of the program, and more.
