Pawtucket Students Enliven Outstanding Program

by Salvation Army Brass Band

PAWTUCKET - An outstanding performance by a big brass band from South America was enlivened by participation from Pawtucket music students in a concert held on Wednesday, April 16, at the downtown Visitor Center, attended by more than 200 people.

The students, under school music directors George Correia and David DiMaio, who served as conductor, performed in two musical numbers with The Salvation Army’s South America East Music Forces, which also features a chorus, under Bandmaster Omar Perez.

After playing in “Muffins Rhapsody” and a medley of tunes titled “Classics in Brass,” the young musicians, who came from schools throughout the city, were rewarded with a standing ovation.

The concert was a benefit for The Salvation Army’s Pawtucket Corps, established in the city in 1894.
