Recognizing Board Member Lynn Ridgway

For Over 11 Years of Dedicated Service

TORRINGTON - The Salvation Army in Northwest Hills hosted a special dinner in honor of Mr. Lynn Ridgway, a vital member of their Advisory Board for over 11 years. This recognition was held on February 20 at the da Capo Restaurant in Litchfield. It was attended by all of the current advisory board members, including the George Craig (Chairman), Daphne Bobinski, and Janet Recidivi (along with her spouse, Egidio Recidivi).

Also in attendance were Major David Champlin (The Salvation Army’s Divisional Commander for Southern New England), Major Philip Ferreira (Divisional Program Secretary/Divisional Music Director), Major Susan Ferreira (Assistant Finance Secretary/ Assistant Property Secretary/ Prayer Liaison), and the Northwest Hills Officers, Majors Scott and Patty Harvey.

Lynn

Lynn was awarded two plaques from The Salvation Army, one from the Southern New England Divisional Headquarters and one from The Salvation Army’s Territorial Headquarters, both in recognition of his faithful service as a Salvation Army Advisory Board Member, and also to confer on him a Life Membership for the Advisory Board. Lynn was visibly moved as he heard meaningful words of gratitude from both Major Champlin and Major Scott Harvey, touching on his enthusiastic guidance and expertise, as well as many other helpful traits.

Major Harvey remarked, "Lynn has unofficially served as a mentor to the various Officers appointed to Northwest Hills throughout his time with the board. He has never hesitated to go above and beyond, visiting us alone many times since our arrival, in order to offer encouragement, and other bits of advice, which reflects his meticulous attention to detail and supportive character."

Although Lynn will be missed at the regular advisory board meetings, Majors Harvey are blessed to know that he is still available for needed counsel as they continue to strive to fulfill The Salvation Army’s mission year-round.
