CES Can Challenge

Consulting Engineering Wins Salvation Army's 26th Annual Architects and Engineers Can Challenge!

MIDDLETOWN - This is what more than 13,000 collected food items looks like! Consulting Engineering Services (CES) employees collected the goods to participate in The Salvation Army’s annual Architects and Engineers Can Challenge contest. The contest begins after Thanksgiving and usually ends the third week of December each year. CES employees break into teams, plan their strategies, and then the shopping begins and the challenge is on! The winner is determined by dividing the amount of cans and cash collected by the number of employees. When you see these results piled high in front of the building at 811 Middle Street, it’s no wonder that CES is number one every year!

Middletown Corps Officer Lt Jose Hernandez said, "I'm new to Middletown. I was told to show up at CES to have my picture taken with some food. I was given a brief explanation about the Can Challenge, but I had no idea what to expect. Now I know! What a wonderful surprise. I am very impressed with the effort that the CES team puts into the contest. I am also impressed with the amount of fun that they seem to have doing it. We will be able to help many families with the food from the Can Challenge, and I want to thank the CES employees for their wonderful effort."

Consulting Engineering Services has participated in the program since 1997. Records show that over 96,000 cans and approximately $14,000 have been collected by CES employees during this time. George Keithan, Jr., President and CEO, said, "We have a great time at CES collecting cans for the community and competing internally for the coveted "First Can Prize." We feel it is just a small contribution to the Salvation Army, who does so much for our community."
